EPA Announces New Brownfields Grants

If you’re looking for a way to finance your brownfields site, look no further! The US EPA Brownfields Program has recently released FY2013 guidelines intended to assist participants in writing every part of their proposal. There are three different grant opportunities listed below with the purpose to prevent, inventory, assess, clean up, and reuse brownfield sites.

  1. Brownfields Assessment Grants - funds to inventory, characterize, assess, and conduct planning (including cleanup planning) and community involvement related to brownfield sites. Each grantee awarded up to $200,000 over three years; coalitions are funded up to $600,000 over three years.
  2. Brownfields Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) Grants –funds to capitalize a revolving fund and to make loans and provide subgrants to carry out cleanup activities at brownfield sites. Each grantee funded up to $1,000,000 over five years.
  3. Brownfields Cleanup Grants - funds to carry out cleanup activities at a specific brownfield site owned by the applicant. Each grantee awarded up to $200,000 over three years.

The total funding is estimated at $60 million! Distributed between the three grant categories, the EPA hopes to award over 200 applicants.
