Renovating the Andrew H. Wilson Elementary School

Sunday, November 15, 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM ($20)

The Andrew H. Wilson Elementary School and the Broadmoor neighborhood spent two weeks under water after Hurricane Katrina. The existing school structure has been renovated and new facilities have been added. The building incorporated many sustainable components and expects to achieve LEED Gold Certification.

Our volunteer effort is to install landscaping for the school, which plans to open for students in January 2010. As part of the Brownfields 2009 Conference focus to improve properties, we will help revitalize the school and install native and well-adapted plants based on a well-planned environmental design.

Bring your enthusiasm and your work gloves for this worthwhile activity. The EPA is partnering with local community organizations including Broadmoor, Groundworks and other organizations to make this event possible. Planting tools will be provided. Sign up today to reserve your seat on the bus!
