Greening Your Government

This course is Green Real Estate Education’s first level of the Greening Your Government series. This session offers the certification, "Green Certified Government Professional - Green Leadership" ( GCGP-GL ) and includes an overview and introduction of green government and how the term relates to government infrastructure.  

This is a 4 hour module and explores how government departments can incorporate sustainable practices into their policies and operations. Designed for understanding on all levels, we define concepts such as sustainability, green certifications and green standards and define materials and systems governmental leaders need to know about. We will include a step by step guide for a commitment to become more socially responsible. 

The course includes an overview of renewable energy and resources.  New technologies and energy efficiency will be discussed. Guidelines for implementing programs to offer tax incentives and resources will be made available as well.  Additionally, attendees will discuss the impact green government initiatives will have on the operating budgets of local governments. Our certification series continues over the next few years for all governmental professionals as a guide in to leading local governments and communities into a more sustainable future.

Essentials of Hazardous Materials Management for Brownfields Professionals

The Essentials of Hazardous Materials Management Course provides an introduction to the laws and regulations that govern hazardous materials, set in a brownfields practitioner context.  The course provides participants with a technical background on Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S).  This workshop also provides:

  1. The legal and regulatory framework of EH&S programs to protect human health and the environment; 
  2. How information is made available to workers and community stakeholders;
  3. Practices from the field on how hazardous material managers asses the environmental impact of property transfers;
  4. How management systems are used to identify impacts of their operations.

The materials presented have been modified to address the needs of brownfields professionals.  This workshops is based on the Essentials of Hazardous Materials Management course offered by the Alliance of Hazardous Materials Professionals.
