Poster Gallery & Competition

The Poster Gallery is a popular venue for sharing information on community brownfields redevelopment projects, new technologies for assessing and cleaning sites, and other news on brownfields redevelopment. Posters should be designed to inform and educate conference participants. Direct marketing or advertising will not be accepted for display in the Poster Gallery; give-away items (such as pens, magnets, candy, etc.) are not permitted.

 

Participation in the Poster Gallery is free.

Poster Submissions

Poster submissions are now CLOSED.

Poster Specifications

The Poster Gallery will provide tackboards that are 8’ wide x 4' high, and covered with neutral fabric. The boards are placed on top of a 3’ high table which is available for providing educational materials. Business cards, brochures, copies of papers, or similar educational materials can be displayed on the table. 

Note: Presenters are responsible for bringing their own pushpins, tacks, or velcro to hang their materials.

Competition

Eligibility & Award Categories

The Brownfields 2009 Poster Gallery Competition is open to all individuals and teams exhibiting in the gallery. Four awards are presented each year.

  • People’s Pick – Conference participants vote for their favorite poster in the Gallery.
  • Best Community Redevelopment Project
  • Best New Technology
  • Best Overall

Criteria

Posters will be judged on the following criteria:

  • Clarity – coherent and effective message
  • Layout and Design – organization and neatness of poster (aesthetic composition)
  • Research – well thought out and explored
  • Content – engaging and informative
  • Uniqueness – distinctive subject matter and originality
  • Readability – legible from five feet away

Points

  • Clarity – 10 points
  • Layout and Design – 8 points
  • Research – 8 points
  • Content – 6 points
  • Uniqueness – 5 points
  • Readability – 3 points

Judging

The judges will review posters during the first two days of the conference.  Presenters do not need to be attendance for their poster to be considered.

Awards Ceremony

The winners will be announced on the final day of the conference at the morning coffee break.
